About the Artist -Ian Walder
Welcome to my website, commonly known as my “virtual studio”, where every one of my paintings is unique, not just because of the passion that’s gone into creating it or the fact that it might add presence to your home or to your office, but because every piece has been created to help fund vital research into a cure for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Why...? Well, my love of art started over forty years ago. What started as a simple hobby became a burning passion, fuelled by my wanting to paint recollections from my own life’s journeys or from my imaginary take on the world around us with its vivid seascapes and majestic yet humbling features.
Each work is filled with vibrant colours and textures and portrayed in my own personal style.
However, my life’s journey took a significant detour in 2021 when I was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
Despite my mobility challenges, my passion to create art for people to enjoy still burns except that now each brush stroke takes on new meaning. I know that one day soon, my ability to paint will be severely curtailed and will eventually cease due to the nature of this cruel and debilitating disease which we are only now beginning to understand.
Until then, I am using my talents to not only create and inspire, but to raise awareness into the relentless effects of MND and help fund vital research in the hope of one day finding a cure. Therefore, 20% of every sale is being donated directly to the MND Association, (a registered charity) whose focus is on improving access to care and support for fellow sufferers and their families, whilst assisting the research into this disease.
So please come on into my studio and say hi - explore my world, my journey, my passion and my life. Be a part of something far bigger than a picture can ever be and help support the many MND warriors and their families out there.
